Take one of the UK’s largest surviving underground air raid shelters of WW2. Add the experience of wine warehouse and distribution company EHD London No.1 Bond. What do you get? The perfect underground vault for professional, secure and fully insured storage within 40 minutes of Central London.
Locke King Vaults provides the very best conditions in the United Kingdom for the storage of fine wines. The underground store is a series of 17 tunnels approximately 1 mile in length, built on the famous Brooklands site as air raid shelters in 1939. Stored in concrete-lined tunnels, your wines are protected from detrimental vibrations and UV light. Temperature is maintained between 10-12 degrees Celsius and humidity is controlled at 70%.
Through our experience at EHD, we can compete at every level: offering a personal yet professional service, optimum storage conditions underground, market-leading logistics, and fair, flexible rates. The operation is managed by a dedicated fine wine team and benefits from the resources of the main offices. We currently store close to 50,000 cases on behalf of over 3000 clients at our Locke-King Vaults facility.
Constructed at the outbreak of the Second World War, the tunnels were built to protect some 5000 staff employed in the construction of fighter aircraft supporting the war effort. After World War 2, the air raid shelter was sealed - remaining totally undisturbed and unspoiled for over 60 years. Incredibly, many original artefacts such as posters and signs remained in place, preserved in the cool, dark, constant atmosphere.
Whether you have a fine wine portfolio of 1 case or 100, you can rest assured knowing that it is stored in optimum conditions at Locke-King Vaults. Please contact us for more information on pricing.
